Taiko workshops winter 2018

We are excited to offer some more opportunities to play Taiko in the winter of 2018. There will be 3 workshops – in January, February and March.

Whether you have played some Taiko before or not, you will find these workshops to be fun and loud. They will demand your full attention and commitment to the moment and the rhythm.

As a group activity Taiko creates opportunities for building friendships and communities. The sound of the drums played together is exciting and empowering.

We will provide all equipment and tuition, please come in comfortable clothes and bring water and ear plugs (recommended).

Booking is essential as places are limited.

All activities take place in St Paul’s Parish centre, De-La-Beche Road, SA2 9AR. Plenty of parking available and disabled access.

Visit to Carmarthen Explorer Scouts

We were invited to visit the Explorer Scouts in Carmarthen by their leader Siriol Butterworth, as she thought that “Taiko drumming would be an activity that our Explorers would really enjoy”. Wow, was she correct!!

Five of us arrived, with a van full of drums which the Explorer Scouts willingly helped us take into the hall. After setting up the drums, Sarah gave a brief explanation of the background of Taiko drumming, including naming the different drums we had brought, after which we performed three pieces from our repertoire.
