Taiko Workshops with Johnathan Kirby for kids and adults

Join us for our next  Swansea Year of Taiko  workshop at St Paul’s Parish Centre, Sketty, on Saturday 29th October with Johnathan Kirby.

Jonathan is based at Kagemusha Taiko near Exeter where he has built a thriving taiko community.

He will teach the three workshops around the theme of ‘freeing yourself from the drum’. While of course there will be plenty of actually hitting the drum, he will also introduce arm movements and moving around the drum which is a feature of many forms of popular Taiko.

We believe that taiko should be open to all, however we need to advise participants that it can be a moderately strenuous activity. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Adult Workshops -Age 14+: £8 pp for each workshop (+50p pp for transactions through paypal)

Morning:  complete beginners and those with previous experience.

Afternoon: 14:30 – 16:30  some previous taiko (including the morning session), drumming or dance experience required

Young Person’s workshop: 13:00-14:00 £5 pp (+50p pp for transactions through paypal):  school years 4 to 9.

Please arrive a little early for your workshop as we do intend to start each one on time. We would advise you to wear comfortable clothes and some water.  You may also wish to bring some earplugs. Parents can observe the children’s workshop from the back of the hall.
